hel-sec-audit – User Guide
Overview
hel-sec-audit is a security auditing application for Helwan Linux. It scans your system for vulnerabilities and provides a detailed report of potential security issues.
Main Window
The main window is your starting point. It contains the application title, start button, menus, and theme options.
- Application Title: Displays
🔒 hel-sec-audit 🔍.
- Start Scan Button: Launches the security scan. The scan runs in the background so the UI remains responsive.
- Menus:
- File → Exit: Closes the application.
- Settings → Application Settings: Opens the settings window to configure options.
- Help → About: Displays information about the program.
- Themes: Change the visual appearance:
Dark Mode 🌙: Dark background with light text.
Pink Mode 🌸: Soft pink UI for a fun look.
Default Mode 🌤: Standard blue gradient and buttons.
Starting a Scan
- Click the Start Scan button.
- The Scan Window opens and shows progress.
- The scan runs using a background thread so the main window stays active.
- Progress updates appear live in the Scan Window.
- When the scan finishes, the Results Window opens with the findings.
Note: Do not close the application while a scan is running; this may interrupt the process.
Scan Window
This window shows the current scan progress:
- Progress bar with percentage completed.
- Current check being performed.
Results Window
After the scan, this window displays:
- List of security issues found.
- Severity of each issue.
- Recommendations to fix or improve security.
Settings Window
The settings window allows you to configure application-specific options, such as:
- Scan preferences (which checks to enable/disable).
- Notification settings.
- Theme preferences.
About Window
Provides information about hel-sec-audit, including:
- Version number.
- Developer information.
- License and credits.
Themes
You can switch between three visual themes:
- Dark Mode 🌙: Dark gray background with light text.
- Pink Mode 🌸: Soft pink background with bright pink buttons.
- Default Mode 🌤: Gradient gray background with blue buttons.
Keyboard Shortcuts
Ctrl+Q: Exit application.
Tip: Use themes and settings to make the interface comfortable for long scans.
Troubleshooting
Warning: If the scan fails or shows errors, make sure you have the necessary permissions to run system checks.
